Review

Rangers had the better of the play in the opening 20 minutes and thereafter it was mostly Celtic.

Rangers full backs were defensively excellent and the match was played in good spirit. Celtic's shooting was generally appalling and wayward, Fernie in particular spurning a glorious opportunity to square the match after Rangers had scored. Mochan had two glorious shots saved by Niven in the Rangers goal, with Niven having an excellent game. The second half Celtic played with the wind and put constant pressure on the Rangers goal.

Celtic undoubtedly missed the flair and vision of Evans. Meechan, Stein and Peacock were more valuable attacking in the second half than they needed to be in defense with Rangers breakaways only rarely troubling Bonnar.
