Trivia

  • The match was played at Celtic Park with a 5:45 pm kick off to allow for extra time if needed. The second semi final replay between the two sides. Thistle's win took them to the final at Hampden against Rangers on 28th September.

Review

McPartland got the winning goal in an epic game less than two minutes from full time from probably the only error on the night from Mike Haughney.
The match appears noted for defensive errors from both sides and the inability of linesmen and referee to determine what was offside and what was not.
By all accounts Thistle deserved to win the match and had better half backs than Celtic and used the ball better despite gifting Celtic two goals at the start.
