Review

Despite the teams eagerness the first quarter of an hour was largely uneventful. Duncan and Buchan, the new signings for Raith were proving to be a handful. Duncan nearly scored when he threw over a speculative cross-come-shot from the left wing, Fallon completely missed it and the ball rolled along the line. Copland also missed a good chance firing straight at Bell. As the first half progressed Celtic lost their attacking edge and Fallon, Stein and haughney were having to defend strongly. Stein was involved in two goal line clearances. At the other end Boden had a terrific shot at goal which flew just past the post. At half time it stood 0-0.
Mochan and Walsh switched poisitions at the start of the second half and the tactic worked. Colville lost a ball to Mochan and his recovery tackle upended Smiler for a penalty. Haughney hit the underside of the bar from the spot but the ball bounced down and over the line. Inn the 67th minute a long low pass down the middle was missed by the Raith defenders and Mochan collected to pass into an empty net. Three minutes later McNaught caught Mochan for a second penalty, this time Haughney making no mistake from the spot. Raith pulled a goal back from Kelly before the end.
