Review

Described as a 50-50 game which could have gone to either team with fair and entertaining football. What was noticeable was the fitness of the Celtic team who showed their strongest play in the latter 5 minutes of the game.
Fallon had to clear from under the bar with Bonnar beaten on 20 minutes but on 23 minutes Walsh opened the scoring. St Mirren came back strongly before the play lapsed into a listless midfield struggle. Collins played well and Higgins worked well with Fernie. In the second half St Mirren levelled after 50 minutes callan's shot going in off the underside of the bar. Higgins missed an easy shot in the second half and then Bobby Evans, one of the cleanest players of the game going, had his name taken in what was pretty much a non-fouling game. In the last few minutes Celtic peppered the St Mirren goal with shots and at the end the Buddies had Lorne to thank for salvaging one point a piece from the game.
