Trivia

  • The only change to the team was the switch of sides between Tully and Fernie, which made little difference as they both regularly rotated and roved on the pitch.
  • With Aberdeen winning against Raith Rovers and Clyde losing to Queen of the South, Celtic moved up to second in the table still with the game in hand.

Review

Goals 1 – Fernie trapped a clearance, dribbled around two defenders and the keeper and shot into the empty net
Goals 2 – Collins centred to Fernie who passed into the goal mouth fro Walsh who had an easy time finishing
Goals 3 – Walsh beat McQueen on the byeline and centred for Higgins to fire into the roof of the net
Goals 4 – Fernie dazzled the Albion defense and Walsh dummied his pass for Tully to shoot low and into the goal
Goals 5 – Walsh again beat McQueen and his shot was only partially saved. Higgins following up tapped home.
half time – could have been 5 goals up in twenty minutes with the number of saves on the line and tips over the bar.
Goals 6 – Walsh hooked the ball into the net
Goals 7 – Walsh's shot cannoned off of Whitehead and over the keeper's hands.
