Trivia

  • With the League now lost (Rangers had beaten Aberdeen and accumulated enough points so that nobody could now catch them) and the Cup lost the season ran on in the *** end of playing out the remaining games to the end.
  • Fallon was out to recover from injury aggravated in the Cup Final, as was Meechan who injured an ankle in the Cup Final. This meant bringing Haughney back from his inside forward position of the Cup Final and giving a debut to Jim Kennedy, a full back recently signed from Duntocher Hibs. Peter Goldie was restored to right half with Eric Smith recovered from an ankle injury going to inside right

Review

With little to play for from both sides the game was somewhat flat, especially with Celtic playing two days after the Cup Final defeat and yet more injuries needing to be accommodated through team shuffling. Jim Kennedy had a good debut against Johnny McKenzie
