Trivia

  • No wholesale restructuring after the defeat to Rangers but with Tully fit, Mochan moved back to the right side and John Higgins dropped out.
  • Bobby Evans and Bobby Collins both played in the Scottish League v Irish league at Shawfield on the 26th September with the hem side winning 3-1 Collins getting one of the goals.
  • Celtic had started the league in indifferent form. Motherwell after three games were top of the league.

Review

Motherwell won the toss and played with the wind and in the third minute Gardiner hit the post. Celtic replied with attacks from Collins, Tully and Fernie. In the fourteenth minute Hunter ****** a pass which fell straight to the feet of Quinn who promptly despatched the ball past Beattie. Despite attacks Motherwell held out to the end.
