Review

The game was played on a heavy pitch and after close encounters for both teams at both ends the most notable event was the injury to Billy McPhail who came away from a tackle with ferguson limping. After attention on the touchline he went back to outside left with Mochan moving to centre. He continued to limp through the gamer and played very little part. An obscure decision against Henderson gave Celtic a penalty in the 32nd minute which Haughney duly converted. O'Hara scored the equaliser twelve minutes from the end.

The ankle knock for Billy McPhail would prove to be a sore one for both him and Celtic and he would miss the rest of the season. His loss broke up the energetic winning partnership established between McPhail – Fernie and Mochan
