Trivia

  • This was played the same day as the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden where Falkirk took on Kilmarnock in a 1-1 draw. The League programme was so far behind that five other league games went ahead on this day.
  • Injuries were starting to pile up and cause a degree of anxiety given the American tour coming up. Dick beattie was injured and out. John Higgins was also out as was Tully. This allowed McAlindon and Smith back in and gave John Bonnar his first senior game of the season.
  • Celtic signed John Divers on full time papers.

Review

Another poorly attended game with little to play for at the same time as the Scottish Cup Final was on. A quiet game from the crowd and a poorly played one from the players. Airdrie had a 'goal' chalked off for offside on 25 minutes. The play for the last 20 minutes of the half was described as 'lifeless'. And the whole match as 'too tiresome to be taken seriously'.
