Review

Despite the re-arranged team Clyde started well and had the better of the opening exchanges. On thirteen minutes a long clearance by Beattie was missed by Haddock and Walters and the ball bounced kindly for Sammy Wilson to collect and loft over the advancing McCulloch. Clyde struck back and the defense had to withstand a mighty period of Clyde pressure. Four minutes from time McPhail won a dropped ball and took off beating several Clyde players before crossing to Collins who, taking the ball on, returned the ball to mcPhail who smashed it past McCulloch. Right on haklf time Keogh diverted a trundling ball past beattie to make it 2-1 at half time.
Five minutes after the interval Clyde were level. Ring beat several Celtic defenders and his pass found Innes who fired a good shot into the roof of the net. Five minutes later and the lead was back with Celtic. McCulloch kicked out a clearance which was controlled by Collins who tore away for 25 yds before delivering a ferocious shot which the goalkeeper could only stand and watch fly past him. ferni made it four with the best move of the game which involved Collins, McPhail and Wilson before Fernie collected the ball, feinted and then fired home in the bottom corner.

Clyde were doubly unlucky to be beaten by the 'flu bug as well as a team fronted by Collins in superb form.
