Trivia

  • Following the retention of the League Cup in the famous and historic 'Hampden in the Sun' 7-1 final, it was back to the bread 'n' butter of the League.
  • Jim Donnelly was out with 'flu. In came Peter Goldie
  • In a strange developement, Ayr Utd enquired if Neil Mochan was available for transfer – the same Neil Mochan who had just scored two goals at Hampden in the Sun.

Review

Celtic won the toss and proceeded to attack the Thirds goal. It however was not all one way traffic and the Cathkin Park side had a good enough show of their own. Despite good chances at both ends it remained goal-less at half time.
Celtic continued to play close passing football and in the 60th minute they had their reward. A foul on Tully just outside the box saw him quickly release the ball to Collins whose shot near tore the net off. With Tully and Mochan switching positions, Celtic were dominant and should have added a second through Wilson. Celtic had a penalty fourteen minutes from time but Fernie's kick was straight at Robertson. Collins added a second not long before the final whistle.

Though difficult to pitch then true position of Celtic, the League table looked like this at the end of October
