Trivia

  • The last League game of the season.
  • A strange end-of-term line-up with Frank Haffey making his senior debut in goal. John Colrain went back to the reserves with Fernie moved to the right side and matt McVittie in at an unaccustomed outside left.
  • On Saturday 26th April Clyde beat Hibernian 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park.
  • The final selection for the Scotland team to go to the World Cup in Sweden was made. Bobby Evans and Bobby Collins were included in the final 22 names.
  • Celtic announced their intentions for next season. Billy McNeill (Blantyre Vics), Pat Crerand (Duntocher Hibs) and Andy Murphy (St Anthony's) were called up. Released were John Bonnar, Mike Haughney (who had in fact left the previous season to emigrate), Peter Goldie, and Frank Whyte.
  • The retained players were Auld, Byrne, Beattie, Collins, Colrain, Conroy, Conway, Crerand, Divers, Donnelly, Evans, Fallon, Fernie, Haffey, Higgins, Jack, Jackson, Kennedy, Meechan, Mochan, Murphy, MacKay, McMillan, McNeill, McPhail, McVittie, Peacock, Smith, Tully, Wilson.
