Trivia

  • Played on a Saturday afternoon at Celtic Park – quite remarkable given the run in at the end of the season with games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • The draw for the competition had been a little complicated due to ground and team uncertainties. Third Lanark had already played Queen's Park with the Hampden side progressing to the semis to meet Clyde. Rangers were given a bye to the semis. Fancy that now!
  • A bright sunny day for the game
  • Celtic or Partick would progress to meet Rangers at Ibrox in the next Charity Cup game.

Review

Partick won the toss and kicked off but it was Celtic that started at double pace and it took just four minutes for Celtic to go ahead through Wilson. Collins very nearly made it two immediately after. Celtic played and passed faster than the Jags. For most of the game Celtic outplayed Partick and the game was played mostly in their half. Partick did have chances but by and large they had little plan of attack and it was down to steadfast defending that kept the score at 1-0
