Review

Celtic won this game, the third against Clyde already this season, comfortably through superior play and the inability of the Clyde team to change their playing tactics and a complete lack of forward punch. Tully and Collins both had excellent games. Neither Haffey nor McNeill were seriously tested but performed adequately.

Wilson headed home from a Tully corner for the opener (photo). McCulloch in goal was injured trying to save and Haddock went in goal for Clyde for 10 m inutes whilst the GK received attention. Clyde had a penalty on 10 minutes which they missed. Bertie Auld scored a spectacular goal from 20 yards after a pass from Wilson.

With St Mirren beating Airdrie 3-2 Celtic still were not surely qualified but could afford to draw their next two matches and still go through.
