Review

In a week which saw fog cover most of mid Scotland (the cause of postponement of two games on this date) a slight wind lifted the dampness and fog out of the air to just maintain the dreich grey covering. The game started at a fast pace with Celtic making most of the play. Shots from Conway, Colrain, McVittie and Jackson tested the Thistle keeper Fairbarn who was called into making some tidy saves. Despite all the pressure and shots the game was 0-0 at half time.
The pressure continued after half time with Peacock now getting in on the act but the Thistle defense stood firm. Then on 55 minutes the Jags broke upfield and Smith unleashed a shot from 20 yds that sailed past Beattie. The goal pulled Thistle back together and they produced some moves that had Beattie pulling out class saves of his own. Before the end further disaster struck Celtic when McNeill's pass back was short and Kerr stole in to waltz the ball around Beattie and into an empty net.
