Review

The start of the game was even with both teams having chances to go ahead. Dunfermiline attacked well and the Celtic defense had to be alert. Celtic won a penalty on 18 minutes when Duthie handled. Mochan scored from the spot. Connachan in the Dunfermiline goal was doing well and called on to save shots from Wilson and Colrain. By the middle of the firsat half Celtic were back in control and moving well. A rather undistinguished first half ended with Celtic the one goal in front.
The second half saw a continuation of the rather dull play with both teams failing to take their chances or complete moves. Jackson scored in the 79th minute, a shot which was deflected off Duthie , but the Dunfermiline right back made amends by putting away a penalty two minutes later. Jackson scored a third goal for Celtic two minutes from time.

At the beginning of March Celtic were well out of the running for the League and stood at 9th in the table, having held their position through February. Hearts had come back in to it with Airdrie and Motherwell dropping points. Rangers position at the top of the table was starting to look like a winning lead.
