Review

Celtic attacked from the off. The forward line combined well to give early chances in front of goal. McVittie, Lochhead and Auld all had chances. It took Aberdeen 20 minutes to get their first chance on goal and Neil Mochan had to save on the line. Celtic went ahead on 28 minutes when, from a free kick Mochan feinted to shoot then passed to Auld, who whipped a cross the goalmouth to Lochhead who bundled the ball home. It stayed 1-0 to Celtic at half time.
In the second half Auld was fouled by Walker in the area and Neil Mochan scored from the spot. Colrain added a third goal when he ran onto a throw in from McNeill and hit a right footed shot into the far corner of the net from the edge of the openalty box. Shortly after Matt McVittie got the fourth after Lochhead had beaten his man and made the space for McVittie to shoot home left footed.
Lochhead emerged from the game with plaudits but the game was generally lack lustre with a poor Aberdeen side.
