Trivia

  • With Frank Haffey out in came Dick Beattie back in goal; fit again Eric Smith was restored to right half; Bertie Auld found himself dropped and Divers went back to outside left with Sammy Wilson starting inside.

Review

An end-to-end first half which was pretty even with neither team really pushing the boat out in a game that was with nothing to play for.
There was some debate about Celtic's first goal and Wren came out of goal to protest to the referee. After consulting the linesman the goal stood. Five minutes later Wilson scored a second and there were no complaints about this one. Twenty one minutes into the half Lochhead Scored a thrid.

Celtic had risen to seventh in the League propelled by four wins, a loss and a draw in March, but with no prospect of getting up towards the top.
