  • Neil Mochan was fit and restored to left back; Eric Smith too was fit and came in at right half with Duncan MacKay dropping out with 'flu; Auld moved back to his more accustomed outside left in place of Tommy Mackle and Stevie Chalmers won a start at outside right.
  • Neil Mochan's brother, Denis Mochan played for Raith at inside left.
  • The Celtic Reserves were again in action and tried out a new goalkeeper. The team was 'Newman' (John Millar of Ashfield who was on trial); Curran, Kennedy, Crerand, Kurila, Clark, McVittie, Colrain, Lochhead, O'Hara, Mackle. They went on to win 5-0
  • 47 miners were feared dead when fire broke out at Auchengeich Colliery, between Lenzie and Muirhead, on 18th September.

Review

The early game was fairly even with both sides having chances and Eric Smith for Celtic as well as Auld and Conway playing well. Jackson got the opener on 20 minutes with a shot that appeared to take a deflection from a Raith player.
In the second half Celtic were dominant and Stevie Chalmers scored two goals to give Celtic a degree of revenge over the Kirkcaldy side for knocking them out of the group stage of the League Cup.
