Review

Having beaten Rangers at Ibrox in September, Ayr Utd came to Celtic Park and started very well with outside right McGhee playing very well. It was a back-and-forth game with Ayr proving to be tough customers. Ayr Utd scored first with a decent goal from McGhee. Colrain nearly puled an equaliser back immediately but at half time it was 1-0 to Ayr.
Ayr started the second period well and in 5 minutes they doubled their advantage. Celtic countered by moving Auld to the centre and Colrain to the outside with Colrain limping from a leg injury. They attacked and Ayr defended resolutely. The move paid off with bertie Auld pulling one back to 2-1 the Divers levelled the game. Both sides went for the winner and despite the pressure on the Ayr goal it was McGhee who found the winner six minutes from time.
