Trivia

  • Eric Smith took all of three days to recover from the leg and back injury that had kept him off the field for 80 minutes in the previous game against Airdrie. He was training again on the Wednesday and was due a full fitness test before the game but failed to make the starting eleven going down with tonsilitis. Also returning to the Reserves was a young Charlie Gallacher who had had a long time out recovering from a troublesome ankle injury.
  • Dan O’Hara returned for the injured Eric Smith and apart from this one enforced change the management kept faith with the team that had played well as a 10-man unit against Airdrie.

Review

Both teams started well and despite the action being at both ends the first half ended goalless.
On the restart Celtic attacked again and O’Hara was on the end of a move that involved Byrne, Mochan and Colrain. As the second half wore on Celtic began to dominate the game with fine interplay between the forwards. before the end Colrain scored with a snap shot and at the death Mochan bundled over a ball (in some reports this goal is also given to Colrain).
