Trivia

  • This league game should have been played on the preceding Saturday. However due to the Cup fixture log jam caused by the bad weather earlier in February both Hibs and Celtic agreed to play the game as a floodlight night game on Monday and go ahead with the Third Round Cup tie at Elgin.
  • Bertie Auld was fit after his run out with the reserves and he came in at outside right with Eric Smith moving in one. Colrain and Mochan were both out with injuries and Divers was rested with Conway and Chalmers coming in.

Review

Auld and Smith on the right side played well together and were responsible for a number of good moves. It was their passing movement which led to the goal, Conway firing past Muirhead. Celtic continued to be dominant in the first half without adding to the score. Hibs came out more determined in the second half and Haffey was called on to keep a clean sheet several times. Smith and Conway had chances to increase the lead but failed.
A hard fought game with little in it but few failures on both sides.
