  • The Reserves played Rangers in the Second XI Cup semi final at Ibrox. The team was Connor, Donnelly, Upton, Crerand, Kurila, Clark, Carroll, Jackson, Lochhead, Gallacher, Chalmers. They were beaten 2-0 by Rangers reserves.
  • Bobby Evans captained The Scottish League against the English League at Highbury on 23rd March losing 1-0. Evans had a stand out game. He was back home and in the side for this game despite having taken a head knock at Highbury, with Crerand giving way and McNeill dropping bnack to right half. In came Jim Conway for Alec Byrne on the left wing.
  • Stirling Albion were involved in a desperate fight to stay up along with Aberdeen and Dunfermiline. Celtic had just been beaten by Dunfermiline.
  • The Scottish League ruled in Celtic's favour to play Third Lanark on the Monday night following this game. Third Lanark wanted the Tuesday as they had arranged a Reserve game against Rangers Reserves on the Monday night. With the impending Cup game against Rangers following, Celtic wanted the maximum tiome to prepare.

Review

A frustrating and poor game for Celtic. Despite being in a relegation scrap Stirling Albion too were pretty lethargic. Conway looked half the player he could be and even Evans had a poor game by his standards. Celtic missed a penalty in the 17th minute after Mochan was brought down in the area. His spot kick was hit wide by two feet. Even so Mochan was the best of the forwards. Haffey was at odds for the Bino's goal – not the first time this season.
