Trivia

  • Hearts wrapped up the league flag this weekend with a darw against St Mirren. With two games to play Hearts were 5 points ahead of Kilmarnock and could not be overtaken.
  • Scotland chose 18 players to tour Europe in May following the close of the season in Scotland. Included for Celtic were Duncan MacKay and Bobby Evans.
  • Frank Haffey was fit again after his back strain and returned in goal; John Divers paid the pernalty for the abject display against Partick Thistle and was dropped in favour of Bobby Carroll coming in at outside right and John Colrain moving to Divers position at inside left.

Review

The sides started fairly evenly with shots at either end. Dundee went ahead when a fairly innocuous looking pass got through to Gilzean on the penalty spot and he fired home. Celtic came back strongly and despite good efforts from Colrain and Mochan could not beat Liney in the Dundee goal. Then just before the interval Robertson collected another pass which should have been cut out and beat Haffey from in close.
In the second half goalkeeper Frank Haffey was carried off and taken to hospital following a collision with Dunky MacKay. Bobby Evans went into goal at 2-0 down and kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the game. With a man down Celtic were under pressure and failed to find an answer to the two Dundee goals from the first half.
