Trivia

  • Robert Kelly was appointed president of the SFA on the 4th May, succeeding John Park of Queen's Park. Also on the 4th May Scotland were beaten by Poland at Hampden Park. Duncan MacKay and Bobby Evans played for Scotland with Evans as usual captain.
  • On the 6th May it was announced that Bobby Evans would leave Celtic. Evans had asked to be put on the transfer list when re-contracting time came round and the Celtic directors reluctantly agreed to his wish. Bobby Evans had been with the club for 16 years.

Review

Clyde must have thought the tie was all over when they scored a third goal without reply on 54 minutes. It took that long for the Celtic attack to wake up. What followed was a revival and first Bertie Auld scored followed by the now regular goal addition from Neil Mochan and to finish off bertie Peacock got a captain's goal. With the game tied at 3-3 on 90 minutes the result was made by a toss of the coin with Celtic progressing to the semi final against Rangers.
