Review

Two goals down at half time the Bhoys came out and staged a gallant effort to make qualifying for the quarter final certain. The game was a tale of chances that failed to be taken in the first ten minutes when Celtic could have gone several goals up. Freebairn too in the Thistle goal had a good night. Thistle's first goal came when Smith was allowed to proceed down the centre bafore hitting a shot that careened back off the crossbar rebounding off of Fallon and into the net. His second goal was a lob over an advancing Fallon. Hughes finally pulled a goal back on 73 minutes but despite attacking they could not find another goal.
