Review

As simple as bringing in an old heid!! Everyone was glad to see Fernie back and he certainly inspired a dramatic upheaval in the quality of the forwards. Within 5 minutes he showed his class with several of his trademark mazy runs. The opener came from Bertie taking a Divers pass and cutting in and shooting from 22 yards for the first goal.ten minutes later Celtic were two up when Divers forced the ball over. Celtic were out looking for more goals with Fernie carefully orchestrating moves. Haffey was little troubled in goal. Two minutes from half time Celtic got a third from a move started by Fernie through Crerand and Chalmers with Carroll popping up to head home a rebound.

In the second half, Crerand went off with an injury and Rodger pulled two goals back for St Mirren. Auld then scored a good goal and it finished 4-2 to Celtic.
