Trivia

  • Celtic were drawn at home to Hibernian in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup.
  • The Scottish Second XI team to play a Junior Select side was announced and included Willie O'Neill (left back) and John McNamee (centre half). Bobby Carroll was a reserve.
  • A Monday night floodlit game and an unchanged side for Celtic. Clyde were wallowing in the depths of the division and flirting with relegation.

Review

John Hughes was the stand out of the win, scoring two, making one and generally combining well with Fernie and Chalmers. Clyde played well for the first 20 minutes and went ahead on 8 minutes when Robertson punished a defensive lapse. But by half time Celtic had pulled two goals back. Clyde also had Clinton injured in the first half. Gallacher scored a great goal in the second half. Clyde then proceeded to cave in and Chalmers and Hughes added 3 further goals.
