  • Duncan MacKay was with the Scotland party and in came John Curran for a rare game. With Billy McNeill playing for Scotland and John McNamee injured in the Charities Cup game, in came John Kurila at centre half. Alec Byrne was again fit and came in with Willie Fernie dropping out.
  • John Kelly's final match for Celtic.
  • Celtic freed ten players. Ian Lochhead (CF) had failed to establish himself, Tommy Mackle (OL) was on National Service. Steve Lynch (RB), Rob Paton , Frank Thomson, Tommy Carmichael (OR), Brian Moore (IL), Jim Upton (LB), Roy Sherry (OL) had all been playing with the Combined Reserves. Frank Connor was also released and later resigned by Celtic.
  • Hearts had just acquired two new players in Pollabnd and Wallace from Raith Rovers.

Pretty much of a damp squib to the end of the season with little more than academic interest going for it..
