- A reign of violence is said to have occured at the end of the game. One Celtic fan died in police custody. The attendance of 24,500 was said to be made up of half Celtic supporters many of whom were said by Glasgow Herald reporter Cyril Horne to be a "…conglomeration of Republic of Ireland flags and drink-sodden creatures who waved them".
- Dundee were League leaders and making a good run of it with Alan Gilzean at inside left. For Celtic the injured Billy Price was out and in came John Clark at left half.
- The Scottish League played the Italian League on Wednesday 1st November drawing 1-1 with Pat Crerand playing.
- Stirling Albion made a bid to take Willie Fernie and Don McMillan to the Binos. Fernie had been out of the first team since mid-September and McMillan had yet to start a first team game but was a well-thought after reserve centre forward. Fernie refused the move.

Review
Bobby Carroll shot a magnificent goal for Celtic on 21 minutes to equalise a Wishart goal in the eighth minute. Dundee started well and generally played the brighter football with their veteran Smith sending over good crosses. Celtic attacked strongly in the second half but generally with no final outcome and Carroll saw little of the ball. Liney made a remarkable save from a back header from Hughes. Gilzean then headed home Dundee's second from a Cousins cross.
