Trivia

  • This was the first of the 3:30 kick offs at Celtic Park, instigated to give the hordes of late stragglers the chance to get in for the start of the game.
  • Both Celtic reserve sides were in action and listed. It is worth recording the teams as an indication of those playing and with the club at this time. The 'A' Reserves faced Aberdeen 'A' Reserves with Fallon, Donnelly, Young, Allan Lawson, Cushley, Price, Gallacher, Lennox, McCall (or possibly McCaw), Murdoch, Newman (possibly Murdoch Stewart). The junior reserves who generally played in the Combined Reserve League played Clyde 'A' with a team of Connor, Pat McDonagh, John Parkes, Willie Smith, Kurila, Don McMillan, Davy Robertson, Peter Gowans, George McBride, Ramsey Brown, Curley. Most of the unlinked players have been tracked down and can be found in Player Who Never Played a Game.
  • Jim Kennedy was out injured in an injury sustained in training. In came Willie O'Neill for a rare start. Also back in again was Frank Brogan replacing Bobby Carroll on the right wing.

Review

A fairly even first half with both sides having chances and the Celtic right side particularly dominant. The goal when it came was finished by Brogan from a Crerand free kick. At the start of the second half Aberdeen switched their players around to no real avail. Brogan got a second again from a Crerand pass.
