Trivia

  • An unchanged side for Celtic. For Dundee Gilzean failed to make the start recovering from an ankle knock.

Off the football field, Dr Beeching had presented his plan for the future of the railways in Britain . This would see hundreds of miles of track and many branch lines cut throughout Britain. It was highly unpopular not least with railwaymen and designed to drive transport onto the roads.

Review

A battle of the giants in the centre with John Hughes facing Ian Ure of Dundee.
The battle between these two was constant throughout the game. It looked as though Ure had got the better of Yogi but he was biding his time and he beat the big centre half twice to score two cracking goals towards the end of the game. Many failed to see the first goal scored after 30 seconds. A ball up the middle from kick off was headed out by Ure with Gallacher retrieving it and hitting it straight into the corner of the net. Both teams defenses performed admirably throughout the game.

All to play for in the last game.
