Trivia

  • Somewhat of a realignment of the front line after the experimentatiion seen in the second half of the Real Madrid friendly at the beginning of the week. Out went John Hughes, Bobby Murdoch and Bobby Lennox and in came a few regulars from the past season. Reprieved was John Divers, and goal-scorer Stvie Chalmers were reinstated with Bobby Carroll in at centre forward. Still out injured was Mike Jackson who was having trouble recovering from the knee injury that had plagued him over the past season and which it was thought would have been corrected after the cartilage op.
  • Ex-Celt John Colrain was at centre forward for Clyde

Review

All over after 20 minutes with Divers making a big impact on his return. His first came with a left footed shot with real power. Three minutes later he got his second. Chalmers ran the ball up the wing and his cross was neatly passed on by Carroll and Divers finished. Chalmers then added a third with a 20 yard shot. From then on Celtic's forwards and backs were if anything over-confident. In the second half Currie got a consolation goal for Clyde.
