Review

Another 'non-win' at home.
A windy and wet day with the supporters having the added 'entertainment' of watching the floodlight bulbs explode. Both teams wore black armbands as a tribute to ex-Celt Willie Lyon who passed away on the 5th December. Celtic started well and in the 5th minute Hughes had put them ahead. This was a rough and tumble game and Crerand had to leave the field after a harsh tackle from Davidson. Crerand was back on after attention but Davidson did not reappear after the interval, getting a cut stitched, by which time Hearts had equalised and Price had put Celtic ahead again with a shot in a goalmouth scramble. In the second half Bobby Murdoch received what looked to be a serious ankle injury after seven minutes and took no further part. Hearts equalised in the 80th minute when a Hamilton shot completely deceived Haffey. At the end John Hughes also received an injury which had him limping off the field.

After this game, manager Jimmy McGrory was reported to the SFA for comments he made to the press after the game regarding the 'robust' tactics employed by Hearts. He appeared before the SFA referees Committee on the 18th March and received a 'severe censure'.
