Trivia

  • John Divers, John McNamee and Frank Brogan all had fitness tests immediately before the game. All three failed the test with John Clark replacing McNamee at right half. Kilmarnock had a fully fit team and fielded the same eleven that had beaten Queen of the South 4-1.

Review

A fight back after the opening defeat to Rangers. The half backs all did well with Clark and Price having time to control the ball and urge the forwards on. McNeill fully controlled Yard. However the forward line looked lost. Jimmy Johnstone hopwever was rapidly turning himself into a crowd favourite with his trickery on the right wing. Kilmarnock however had their own problems and in the end both teams cancelled each other out.
