Review

East Stirling had the better of the game until the 15th minute when Celtic scored through Divers with a left foot shot from 25 yards. Celtic had a lucky escape when a passback to HAffey was missed and it grazed the outside of the post before going for a corner. Chalmers got a second from a Hughes cross. And Chalmers got HIS second when he was on hand to tap home a palmed down Divers shot. Three-nil up at half time.
East Stirling pulled one back immediately after the restart after sloppiness from Gemmell. They had another in the net which was disallowed for offside. Billy McNeill was limping and moved out to the outside left position with Kennedy going to centre half. Quite why Billy McNeill was ordered from the field does not come through in the match report but it appears to have been from something he said to the referee. Amid growing turbulence OFF the field with thrown bottles and fighting, McQueen for East Stirling went down injured and was carried off. John Hughes scored an individual goal and not long from the whistle Chalmers got his hatrick.
