Review

After an early Falkirk flurry it was all Celtic. Johnstone got the first with a classic carve-thru-the-defense run and shot. Three minutes later Jinky sent over a cross which Murdoch headed down for Chalmers to knock home. Chalmers got the third with a header from a Murdoch cross.

Hughes picked off the fourth after Gemmell fired in a cannon which Whigham parried to Johnstone and his shot came off the bar to Hughes. Four minutes later it was John Divers turn as he walked the ball around Whigham and then followed up with a second four minutes later with a carbon copy.Half time and Celtic were 6-0 up.

The situation continued in the second half with both Celtic wings in Hughes and Johnstone giving their opposite numbers serious trouble. Chalmers finally got his hatrick from a Hughes cross.
