Trivia

  • Bobby Murdoch (bruised foot), Billy McNeill (back) and John Hughes (still problems with injured ribs) all came out of the midweek ECWC game against Slovan Bratislava with inuries and were on the treatment table. Murdoch and Hughes both passed fitness tests but McNeill was out with John McNamee returning.
  • East Stirling had the worst defensive record in the league.
  • The A Reserves played East Stirling's A Reserves with a team of Haffey; MacKay, O'Neill; J Brogan, Cushley, Price; Lennox, Cattanach, Spencer, Turner, F Brogan. Celtic won 3-2.

Review

The first two goals came from a Murdoch – Chalmers double act with Murdoch supplying the ball and Stevie Chalmers finishing. Fallon had an easy first half in goal. Murdoch got the third goal after a move between Hughes and Chalmers. Right before half time East Stirling pulled one back through Coburn.
Celtic took up where they left off with East Stirling trying to play the offside trap. Chalmers got his hatrick with a pass from Hughes. Hughes was pulled down by the goalkeeper when he was clear through on goal and Bobby Murdocvh converted the spot kick. Kemop pulled one back before the end.

At the end of the month Celtic were third in the table having won 4 and lost 1 league games.
