Review

A hard game for Celtic with Thistle showing lots of fight from the start – to the extent that they had two players booked in the game. Ronnie Simpson made a glorious save in the early minutes when McNeill was posted missing and Roxburgh picked up a long ball to go one on one with Ronnie. The debate continued when two minutes later when McParland came burdsting through. For once the defense looked shaky. Celtic had their chances up the nother end with Hughes, Lennox and Murdoch going close. On 39 minutes Celtic went ahead in a good passing move starting with Young and ending with McBride sweeping the ball into the roof of the net.
In the second half Celtic pushed for another goal with Gemmell and McBride both going close. Thistle equalised when Bobby Murdoch failed to clear decisively and the ball was pushed through to Jim Conway and his grubber found the corner of the net.
