  • Glasgow Herald reports that Celtic have invited Santos to Parkhead for a friendly on October 12th. Unfortunately the game was never played.
  • A 13 stone John Divers was in training at Partick Thistle. He was told to lose weight before he would get a game and was slimming and training as much as possible but still short of the required weight and fitness the Jags wanted.

Big Yogi had been out in the cold with the Reserves since deigning to reject his contract then only to re-sign his contract at the last minute before the Manchester Utd game.
  • On the previous night Celtic defeated Hearts 2-0 in a Reserve League Cup match at Tynecastle. The Celtic team was Martin, Young, McCarron, Cattanach, Cushley, Brogan, Craig, Connelly, Quinn, Gallagher, Macari. The Celtic scorer was Quinn with 2 goals.
  • On the same day Celtic defeated Jordanhill College 10-1 in a Combined Reserve League match. The Celtic team was Kennedy, Young, McCarron, Cattanach, Cushley, Gorman, Taggart, 'Newman', Clarke, Macari, Hughes. The Celtic scorers were Taggart 3, Macari 2, Gorman 2, Jim Clark 2, Cattanach.

Review

A game remarkable for the amount of misses made by both sides. Hughes soon switched with Bertie Auld to go to outside left. Despite the ease with which Celtic attacked it was still goal-less at half time. Ten minutes after the interval things went Celtic's way and McBride opened the scoring. Chalmers soon added to the total and McBride scored another before the end.
The win gave Celtic 8 points from 4 wins and all likelihood of qualifying for the quarter finals. Clyde would have to win both their last games by hughe margins to go through instead.
