Review

Played in steady drizzle. Celtic strode home with ease against Clyde at Shawfield scoring twice inside twenty minutes. Chalmers got the opener after a move that started with Bertie Auld; and McBride added the second on 18 minutes with a cracking shot from 16 yards. Hughes completed the scoring in the second half.

Jock Stein, "I was delighted with the team and the way they played. They were good but what pleased me most in view of the tough games coming up immediately was the way they controlled the game. That's what I want to see – it pleases me far more than individual brilliance."
