Review

A brilliant first half performance from the Bhoys saw them go in at half time 5-1 up. Each and every goal, including the penalty was a thing of beauty and had the 36,000 crowd in raptures. Bertie's was a wonderful piece of team work and anticipation. Auld set off on a run and at precisely the right moment John Clark let loose a great pass with Bertie taking it on the run and skelping it past the Dunfermiline keeper. Celtic eased off in the second half allowing Dunfermiline to pull two further goals back to the one added by Alex Ferguson in the first half.

The other League Cup quarter final first leg scores were:-
Ayr Utd 1-1 Rangers
Montrose 3-3 Airdrie
Morton 3-1 Aberdeen.
