Review

Goals by Auld, Hughes and Chalmers eventually saw Celtic to a comfortable win against a Kilmarnock side that had injury problems of their own. However the real hero of the night was Jimmy Johnstone fresh back from suspension and turning on the Jinky magic. Johnstone was disciplined and basically unplayable. He ran rings around the Kilmarnock defenders. And it was his upending that gave Celtic a penalty which Gemmell hit wide of the post. Bertie Auld opened the scoring just before half time.
In the second half Chalmers had a goal disallowed before John Hughes added the second. Chalmers finally got on the score sheet before the end.
