Review

This was Celtic at their brilliant best and they gave a devastating display of attacking football. It was a day when every player was on form and the team did not have one weakness.

Bertie Auld was at his virtuoso best and Bobby Lennox gave a wonderful display of clinical finishing. Celtic did not have a failure in their entire side. Jimmy Johnstone totally overshadowed Hibs young winger Peter Marinello and this set the tone for Celtic's victory.

Even Jim Craig got in on the act with a rare but deserved goal. This was one of Celtic's greatest performances under Jock Stein and a fine Hibs side were torn apart in the process. Hibs' two goals came late on with Celtic six up and made the result appear closer than it was although the Easter Road men, led by a gallant Pat Stanton, deserve credit for fighting until the end.

Celtic were now overwhelming favourites to lift the treble.
