  • The team was announced just before kick off. Celtic were carrying a number of injuries following the tough game against Dunfermiline at the weekend which had seen Celtic lose 2-1.
  • Jimmy Johnstone was out with a leg knock and Davie Hay came in for Jim Craig who was dropped.
  • On the same night the Reserve League Cup semi final between Celtic and Dundee was played at Celtic Park. Celtic lost 3-1 with a team containing Simpson, Hughes, Auld and Craig.

Another hard game for the Bhoys who had to weather a storm of Aberdeen attacks in the first half. In the second they fought back but were unable to beat McGarr in the Aberdeen goal. An entertaining 0-0 game by all accounts..
