  • Celtic drew Dundee Utd at home in the next round of the Scottish Cup.
  • The Reserves played two nights before with a team of Fallon, Craig, Gorman, Dalglish, Connelly, Cattanach, Davidson, Quinn, Macari, Hay, McBride Sub Wilson and won 3-0. The scorers were Macari (2) and Hay. On the basis of these performances Craig, Macari and Hay started the first team game against Dunfermiline.
  • This was primarily a reserve game but is included to give an idea of who was coming up. John Fallon, Kenny Dalglish, John Gorman, Davie Cattanach and Jimmy Quinn had all made first team debuts already. Danny McGrain, Paul Wilson, Pat McCluskey and Vic Davidson would go onto to be regulars.
