Trivia

  • A Monday night game at Dens Park. A heavy fall of snow in Dundee on the Sunday night put the game in jeopardy but Dundee raised a team of helpers to clear the ground and the game went ahead.
  • Gemmell and Auld had both recovered from various elements following the Leeds Utd away European Cup game and were played. In too came John Fallon, Tommy Callaghan and Harry Hood with Willie Wallace dropping to the bench. The trick was to keep the first team pool all happy with the Cup Final against Aberdeen on the following Saturday and the home leg against Leeds Utd the Wednesday after.
  • The travelling Celtic fans sing 'We're going to Milan' and 'Bring on the Leeds'.

Review

Celtic missed the sweeper abilities of Jim Brogan but still managed to win the game thanks to an early goal from Bertie Auld and a further goal before the break from Bobby Lennox. Dundee's goal came from Gordon Wallace. The team, though winning really failed to gel with Auld, Hughes and McNeill having off nights.
