Review

Celtic beat Clyde for the third time in a matter of weeks. They played a 4-2-4 system with a backline of McGrain, McNeill, Connelly, Brogan, midfield of Murdoch and Hay and Hughes, Hood, Lennox and Macari up front. Clyde had no answer to a sweetly flowing and moving Celtic side who were 2-0 up at half time.

Lou Macari got the first when a Lennox shot was blocked and rebounded. Davie Hay got the second firing home a cross from Hood. Hay then had a goal chalked off.

Hood had the ball in the net again early in the second half but again the goal was chalked off. Then McHugh for Clyde was the last to make contact with a Billy McNeill header before it went in . Vic Davidson came on for Bobby Murdoch and headed home the fourth goal and he provided the pass for Lou Macari to make it five.

Stein’s young players proved they were up to the mark with Hood and Macari a fine partnership up front and Connelly outstanding in defense and passing. Hay and Connelly were proving to be capable and versatille players able to pull their weight in any part of the ground.
