Trivia

  • Having defeated them in the League Cup quarter finals during the week Celtic faced Dundee at home again in the League at the weekend.
  • John Hughes was out carrying bruised ribs from the League Cup game (he was substituted by Paul Wilson in that game). Paul Wilson made his first full start but the big talking point was the absence of Billy McNeill.
  • Evan Williams suffers a head wound and Brogan keeps goal for eight minutes in the first half until he returns.
  • Ron Selway of Dundee sent off for retaliation on Macari in the second half.
  • On the previous night at Dens Park Celtic Reserves beat Dundee Reserves 2-0 with the scorers being Hall and Auld. The Celtic team was Fallon, McCluskey, Quinn, Dalglish, Craig, Cattanach, White, Wallace, Hall, Chalmers, Auld.

Review

Celtic again played a 4-2-4 system (which was becoming more regular) with Hay back alongside George Connelly and Brogan at left back with Tommy Callaghan and captain-for-the-day Bobby Murdoch in midfield.
Celtic had to fight hard to overcome Dundee in this rematch between the teams. At half time it was still 0-0 and all to play for.
Jinky raised his game in the second half and scored twice. Paul Wilson impressed again on his full debut but Davie Hay's performance was described as flawless.

Celtic ended the month back at the top of the table on goal difference from Aberdeen
