Review

A tough uncompromising game after a tough League encounter between these two teams.
Ex Celts John Cushley and Joe McBride give inspirational performances against their old team.
Celtic employed a 3-3-3-1 system with a front line of Hood (later Lennox) Johnstone and Wallace, supported by Callaghan Auld and Hay, a backline of Gemmell, Connelly and Brogan and McNeill sweeping. Jinky was given a roving role up front and was more in the centre than out on the wing, with Auld as a lynch pin in the centre of the park.
The heavy going does not suit Celtic but Wallace scored in 40 minutes with a looping header from a Brogan cross.
McBride equalised in the second half and an annoyed Stein promises changes for the replay.
